Lumecca Treatment For Dark Spots, Before/After

Long before I was an anti-UV-ray-dodging vampire that avoids the sun at all cost, I was a stupid teen that didn't wear sunblock. I specifically remember going to dance camp with my high school dance team and getting THEEEEEE worst sunburn of my life. I got fried! I was out there dancing my little heart out on the basketball courts in the middle of summer for hours on end with zero sunblock. Do you know what I would do to take that back? And not only that, but a few years later, I actually had the audacity to start using tanning beds! I cringe at the thought. So now, in my thirties, I am dealing with the repercussions: sun damage. Did you know that sun damage takes about 25-30 years to show on your skin? So I'm literally paying for what I did to my skin when I was a kid. And I'll be dealing with my little dance camp shenanigans in my 50's. Yay. But if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen in my "stories" that I did a skin treatment for some dark spots a while back. Well, today is one month from that, so I wanted to share my results.

When I first heard about Lumecca, I was a little apprehensive. I've had some dark spots (hyperpigmentation) on my face, mainly on my cheekbones, for some time now. After trying a bunch of corrective creams and microdermabrasion and not seeing much of a difference over time, I was a little doubtful when I heard that one could see a significant difference after only one Lumecca treatment. Which is why I couldn't believe my eyes when after only 2 weeks, I saw about 50% less pigmentation! It's so crazy! Not only that, but I also noticed that my pores appear smaller. Winning!

I had my treatment with Dr. Gaon at Finesse Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, CA. It was thee best experience from beginning to end. Dr. Gaon was extremely kind and informative. His assistant was gentle and thorough with numbing my face prior to the treatment, which in my opinion, will make or break the experience. They left the numbing cream on me for 45 minutes, which may seem like overkill, but trust me, it's totally worth it. In the past I had laser hair removal on my entire face and it was incredibly painful. The Lumecca procedure was similar in theory but I didn't feel any pain at all. Just little "zaps". The level of pain depends on one's own pain tolerance, numbing cream quality, even distribution and amount of time left on skin. I am definitely very pleased with my results and so happy I did it. I may have to do one more treatment just to get rid of what's still left on my cheekbones. I'll keep you posted.

A HUGE thanks to Finesse Plastic Surgery for their hospitality and professionalism. And to InMode Aesthetic Solutions for their amazing technology and for setting me up with a physician in my area.
